Umka was rescued by the fellow volunteer from a mentally ill owner, who was not feeding Umka or giving him water. Their way of “walking” the cat was throwing him to the sandbox. Umka was taken with his legs and tail covered in dried up fieces. His skin hasn’t recovered to this day.

Umka has stage 2 renal insufficiency and heart problems. He is on a strict diet (renal wet food and renal soups) and is taking phosphorus blocker. He needs a dental surgery, so is taking antibiotics and preparing for one more heart examination to determine if he can undergo anesthesia.
